Saw on The View how some underage girl sent nude photos of herself to some perv, and he pressured her to do more of the same by threatening to reveal to her parents what she'd done. The commentator called it "sextortion," and I'm calling bullshit. "Extortion" is a perfectly fine word, and the "s" adds nothing. It makes the crime almost sound hip, which is stupid. Many a case of extortion across the ages has involved sex, and there's no reason to make up a new term just cuz new tech is involved (at least not in this case--"sexting," on the other hand, sounds like an efficient term with which to sum up that activity...or we could call it "weinering" in the future).
